LUSTING AFTER: JCP = KILLING IT

The other day I got a hot tip from my brother, Ben. He informed me of the new partnership between 'iconic potter, designer, author and personality', Jonathan Adler and the newly refreshed JCP, formerly known as JCPenny - apparently the Penny was 'un-hip'. The collaboration has created Happy Chic, a furniture and home decor collection that offers great design and quality at affordable prices.

Being a big fan of Jonathan Adler's designs, I immediately headed over to JCP's website to see all the goods. And, let me tell you, I was more than impressed and excited. The pieces are so fun and whimsical, and totally rival the über expensive items sold at the Jonathan Adler store. Here are some of my favorite pieces.....

How great are those?! Head over to the website to see more great pieces and their great prices.

Okay, now, I don't mean to put you all into a state of shock or give anyone a heart attack......but there's more. While I was perusing through the Jonathan Adler stuff, I became aware that JCP has also partnered with two other designers and created two more home furnishing collections.

The first collection was designed by the legendary British designer, Sir Terence Conran and appropriately called Design by Conran. It features "skillfully crafted pieces that blend a modern aesthetic with a hint of British charm." Do I dare say I love this collection even more than the Jonathan Adler one? I tend to gravitate toward lighter, more muted colors and modern design, so this is right up my alley. Here are some of my favorites from the Conran collection...

Finally, the next collection, Michael Graves Design was designed by the famous architect and product designer, Michael Graves. It offers striking household products that boast "beauty, function and a playful attitude".

The entire collection is so beautiful and unique, not to mention, practical. I think I need it all. It was hard to pick favorites, but here's my attempt....

Hubba Hubba....

Before this amazing discovery, I would never have thought to shop JCPenny's home department.  However, that will be changing as of now. They have totally turned it up a notch and I'm anxious to see if they have used this, famous designer strategy in other departments. Like, maybe, apparel, accessories or SHOES?!?

Bottom line......JCP is playing with the big boys now.
